Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

Previous research has shown that the psychosocial work environments is an important part of working life as individual affect and are affected by it. An important part is also experiencing comprehensibility, manageability and meaningfulness, which all belong to the concept SOC. The aim of this survey was to examine if various aspects of psychosocial work environment might be explained by Sense of Coherence (SOC), gender, age and stress. This study also examined whether there is a relationship between SOC and gender, age and stress. This survey is focused in both the public and private sectors work environment with n=140, distributed to 94 women and 46 men. To measure the psychosocial work environment Rubenowitz instrument for psychosocial work environment survey (PAK) was used. Antonovskys instrument for Sense of Coherence was used to measure SOC and the Perceived stress scale (PSS) was used to measure level of stress. The results show, among other findings, that men in the age category 41-60 are least stressed and feel more in control of their work. High level of SOC makes individuals less stressed and contributes to better psychosocial work environment. Study results were discussed based on previous research.
