Abstract [sv]

Detta examensarbete genomfördes i samarbete med m4solutions AB, Halmstad, och Volvo Buses AB, Göteborg.

Då Volvo önskar att minska totalkostnaden för tillverkning av luftintag, utan nedsatt prestanda som konsekvens, krävs undersökningar om hur väl dagens intag fungerar och vad som kan förbättras, samt planering av utvecklingsarbetet.

 

För att underlätta för kommande förbättringsarbete har detta examensarbete undersökt vilket underlag och vilka kompetenser som krävs för att genomföra detta arbete. Resultatet av denna undersökning är en instruktion fylld med redskap och information vilket skall stöda Volvo Buses AB vid kommande arbetet att optimera luftintaget.

 

Eftersom Volvo AB ingår i fordonsbranschen är det lämpligt att forma vår instruktion utefter ISO/TS 16949:2009 standarden, för produktutveckling inom fordonsindustrin, och Volvo’s egna metodik, Global Development Process, för produktutveckling.

 

Studien innefattar flödessimuleringar, marknadsundersökningar och kriterieframtagning, samt analyser och utvärdering av samtlig tillgänglig information. Tillsammans gav detta en övergripande bild över luftintagets funktionalitet och prestanda, vilket i sin tur belyser vilka aktiviteter som är nödvändiga att föreslå i den slutgiltiga instruktionen.

Abstract [en]

The following thesis is executed in collaboration with m4soultions AB, Halmstad, and Volvo Buses AB, Gothenburg.

Volvo wishes to lower the production costs of their air intake grills, without compromising with the performance of the grill. To ensure the success of this work there is a need to investigate how well the current air intake grills perform, identify areas that are in need for improvement and develop plans for the optimization work.

 

This thesis has investigated the need of information and competence required to optimize the air intake grill. The result consists of an instruction containing all available information for the grill and suggests suitable methods and tools, and is meant to aid Volvo in their future work to optimize the air intake grill.

 

Volvo AB is a part of the vehicle industry, due to that it is suitable to mould the instruction according to the standard ISO/TS 16949:2009, for product development in the vehicle industry, and Volvo’s own methodology, Global Development Process, used for product development.

 

The study made for the air intake grill includes fluid simulations, a market research and a technical specification, together with analysis and evaluations of all available information. All this gave an overall picture of the air intake grills performance; this in turn indicated which activities that are necessary to include in the final instruction.
