Abstract [sv]

Det pågår en skolpolitisk debatt om andelen kärnämnen respektive karaktärsämnen inom gymnasieskolans teoretiska och praktiska program. Syftet med studien var att undersöka om det finns en skillnad i studiemotivation bland gymnasielever i kärnämnen respektive karaktärsämnen beroende på om de går ett teoretiskt program eller ett praktiskt program. Deltagarna i undersökning var elever på ett gymnasium från den sista årskursen dels från ett teoretiskt program, Naturvetarprogrammet (NV) och från ett praktiskt program, Omvårdnadsprogrammet (OP). Metoden som undersökningen använde sig av var en enkät som tog upp området motivation till kärnämnen och karaktärsämnen. Resultatet visade att motivationen hos elever på det teoretiska programmet var högre för kärnämnet än vad det var för elever på det praktiska programmet, de hade en högre motivation i sitt karaktärsämne.  

Abstract [en]

There is a school policy debate on a how much it should be of core subjects and program specific subjects in the upper secondary school theoretical and practical programs. The aim of the study was to examine whether there is a difference in study motivation in core subject and program specific subject depending on whether the programs have a theoretical or practical orientation. Participants in the study were students at upper secondary school from the final years from a theoretical program, the natural science program and from a practical application, the health care program. Study motivation was assessed by a questionnaire. The results showed that the study motivation for the core subject was greater for students on the theoretical program than it was for students at the practical program. Study motivation was higher for the program specific subjects for students at the practical program.
