Abstract [en]

The implementation of PML for the wave equation is considered in multiblock domain settings. The interface reflections due to the coupling (SBP-SAT) dominate in domain decomposition settings and they are of the same order as the SBP operator used in the interior domain. The reflections caused by constant PML damping profile are eliminated when the domain is decomposed. With arbitrary small layer width and domain decomposition, it is possible to efficiently damp the wave as it propagates to the layer by carefully choosing the auxiliary variables. The use of constant damping profile in multiblock settings, allows for smaller layer width and larger time step than the one domain settings, thus PML efficiency is enhanced.
