SAMMANFATTNING

 

Syftet med denna studie var att undersöka vilka upplevelser nyblivna pappor har av ett akut kejsarsnitt samt vilka upplevelser de har av vårdpersonalens bemötande i samband med det akuta kejsarsnittet.

 

Studien är av deskriptiv design med kvalitativ ansats. Sju pappor intervjuades om sina upplevelser av ett akut kejsarsnitt samt sina upplevelser av vårdpersonalens bemötande i samband med detta. Intervjuerna spelades in och analyserades med en kvalitativ innehållsanalys.

 

Resultatet visar att pappor har många upplevelser kring ett akut kejsarsnitt. De upplever känslor som oro, rädsla och obehag men även lättnad, förväntan och glädje. Papporna upplevde genomgående ett bra bemötande från vårdpersonalen och betonade främst bra och tydlig information samt ett bra praktiskt omhändertagande.

 

Slutsatsen av denna studie är att en ökad medvetenhet om pappors upplevelser i samband med ett akut kejsarsnitt kan bidra till att vårdpersonalen får en ökad förståelse för deras situation. Detta kan i sin tur leda till ett förbättrat omhändertagande och bemötande av dessa pappor.

Abstract [en]

ABSTRACT

 

The aim of this study was to investigate fathers’ experiences of an emergency cesarean section and their experiences of the nursing staff’s treatment at the time of the emergency cesarean section.

 

The study is of descriptive design with a qualitative approach. Seven fathers were interviewed about their experiences of an emergency cesarean section and their experiences of the nursing staff’s treatment at the time of the procedure. The interviews were recorded and were analyzed with a qualitative content analysis.

 

The result shows that fathers have a lot of experiences from an emergency cesarean section. They experience feelings like anxiety, fear, discomfort, but also relief, excitement and joy. The fathers experienced a good treatment from the nursing staff throughout the whole procedure and especially emphasized good and clear information and a good practical apprehend.

 

The conclusion of this study is that an increased awareness of fathers’ experiences of an emergency cesarean section can contribute to a greater understanding for their situation among the nursing staff. This could lead to an improved apprehend and treatment of these fathers.
