ChatGPT: Teacher or machine? : The roles between humans and AI-driven chattbots (English)
Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

When human-computer interaction turns into human-AI interaction AI tools become more common use for computer users. This paper studies the role students give ChatGPT. This study looks at previous research on human interaction with technology such as the media equation theory and a study on hospital robots. In this study I conducted six interviews with students at Södertörn University. The results show that the students often turn to ChatGPT for help and give it the role of a teacher. The results also show that the role depends on several factors such as the students’ subconscious tendency to give ChatGPT qualities that support the anthropomorphizing of the chatbot. The study also shows that students act with technology as if it were intelligent. The central themes in this paper are social roles, anthropomorphism, and AI.
