This report examines the circular economy of fishing gear in Nordic fisheries, focusing on Greenland, Iceland, the Faroe Islands, and Norway. It explores how end-of-life fishing gear (EOLFG) is managed, from production and use to collection, recycling, and reuse. The findings highlight key national differences, shared challenges, and innovative practices. While progress has been made, gaps remain in gear traceability, loss prevention, and recycling infrastructure. The report offers concrete, step-by-step recommendations for improving gear marking, retrieval systems, fisher participation, and regional collaboration, supporting a more sustainable and resource-efficient fishing sector.
