Abstract [sv]

Denna studie undersöker hur företags outsourcing beslut samverkar med valet avlagerplacering. Studien bygger på en kvalitativ metodansats, där semistrukturerade intervjuerhar genomförts med representanter från sju företag inom detaljhandel, partihandel, transportoch lagerhållning, samt tillverkning och industri. Resultatet visar att outsourcing ochlagerplacering är centrala och sammanflätade faktorer som bidrar till kostnadseffektivitet ochoperativ flexibilitet. Genom att outsourca transport funktioner till tredjepartsleverantörer kanföretag dra nytta av stordriftsfördelar och specialistkompetens, vilket minskar kostnader ochkomplexitet i logistikkedjan. Samtidigt möjliggör detta för företagen att fokusera på sinakärnkompetenser, vilket stärker deras konkurrenskraft globalt. Kombinationen av outsourcingoch strategiska lagerplaceringar skapar därmed förutsättningar för företag att optimera sinlogistikkedja, reducera kapitalbindning och anpassa sig snabbt till marknadsförändringar. 

Abstract [en]

This study examines how companies' outsourcing decisions interact with the choice ofwarehouse location. Using a qualitative approach, semi-structured interviews were conductedwith representatives from seven companies in retail, wholesale, transportation andwarehousing, as well as manufacturing and industry. The findings reveal that outsourcing andwarehouse location are central and interconnected factors that contribute to cost efficiencyand operational flexibility. By outsourcing transport functions to third-party providers,companies can leverage economies of scale and specialized expertise, reducing costs andcomplexity in the supply chain. This allows firms to focus on their core competencies,enhancing their global competitiveness. The combination of outsourcing and strategicwarehouse placement creates opportunities for companies to optimize their supply chains,reduce capital tied up in inventory, and quickly adapt to market changes.
