Syftet med denna studie var att undersöka hur elitförberedande lagidrottsmiljöer inom ungdomsidrott förhåller sig till och arbetar för att skapa en trygg idrottsmiljö för barn och ungdomar, med utgångspunkt i FN:s Barnkonvention. Studien bygger på en kvalitativ ansats där semistrukturerade intervjuer genomfördes med ungdomsansvariga i elitföreningar. Det insamlade materialet analyserades tematiskt med hjälp av PPCT-modellen för att förstå hur olika faktorer påverkar barns trygghet och rättigheter inom dessa miljöer. Resultaten visade att föreningar strävar efter trygghet och prestationsutveckling, men att detta arbete utmanas av faktorer som tidig selektering, resursbrist och yttre påtryckningar. Resultatet indikerar att välutbildade ledare och tydliga policyer bidrar till tryggare miljöer. Strategier som nivåanpassning, värdegrundsarbete och samverkan mellan olika aktörer visade sig vara viktiga. Studien belyser behovet av ett långsiktigt barnrättsperspektiv som integreras i både policy och praktik. Slutsatsen är att skapandet av trygga idrottsmiljöer är komplext och kräver att Barnkonventionens principer implementeras konsekvent i verksamheten.

The purpose of this study was to examine how elite preparatory team sports environments in youth sports relate to and work towards creating a safe sports environment for children and young people, based on the principles of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. The study used a qualitative approach, with semi-structured interviews conducted with youth coordinators in elite sports organizations. The collected material was analyzed thematically using the PPCT model to understand how various factors influence children's safety and rights within these environments. The results showed that organizations strive after safety and performance development, but this work is challenged by factors such as early specialization, resource constraints, and external pressures. The findings indicate that well-educated leaders and clear policies contribute to safer environments. Strategies such as level adaptation, value-based initiatives, and collaboration among different stakeholders proved to be important. The study highlights the need for a long-term child rights perspective that is integrated into both policy and practice. The conclusion is that creating safe sports environments is complex and requires the consistent implementation of the principles of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child
