Denna studie har i stora drag fokuserat på områden som berör de internationella och nationella hållbarhetsmålen, träfönstrets egenskaper och material samt både inställning till och efterfrågan av träfönster för återbruk. Detta har skett mot bakgrund av att bygg- och fastighetssektorn genererar stora mängder avfall vilket bidrar till omfattande miljöpåverkan samt den återkommande debatten inom kulturvården avseende bevarande av träfönster eller byte till moderna fönster. Studien genomfördes både med hjälp av att intervjua fastighetsbolag, träförädlare och fönsterhantverkare samt genom att studera information och litteratur som berörde Agenda2030, de svenska miljömålen, trä som material, fönstrets egenskaper, fönsterunderhåll och fönsterhistorik i flerbostadshus. Resultatet av studien visade att ett av tre fastighetsbolag kunder tänka sig att återbruka träfönster. Återbruk av träfönster var inte aktuellt för resterande två bolag på grund av ekonomiska skäl och hyresgästernas kvalitetskrav. Fönsterhantverkarna upplevde att återbruk av träfönster är möjlig om intresse finns men att det finns svårigheter med att hitta rätt dimensioner. Vidare upplevs efterfrågan på träfönster för återbruk som låg. Träförädlarna upplever att tillgången på kvalitativt virke är god men att det rationella skogsbruket och den mänskliga faktorn samt gällande regleringar bidrar till att kvalitativt virke går förlorat.

This study broadly focuses on areas that affect the international and national sustainability goals, the properties and materials of the wooden window, as well as both the attitude towards and the demand for windows for reuse. This has taken place against the background that the construction and real estate sector generates large amounts of waste, which contributes to extensive environmental impact, as well as the recurring debate within cultural preservation regarding the preservation of wooden windows or changing to modern windows. The study was carried out both by interviewing property companies, wood processors and window craftsmen as well as by studying information and literature that touched on Agenda2030, the Swedish environmental goals, wood as a material, the properties of the window, window maintenance and window history in apartment buildings. The results of the study showed that one in three real estate company customers would consider reusing wooden windows. Reuse of wooden windows was not relevant for the remaining two companies due to financial reasons and the tenant’s quality requirements. The window craftsmen felt that reuse of wooden windows is possible if there is interest, but that there are difficulties in finding the right dimensions. Furthermore, the demand for wooden windows for reuse is perceived as low. The wood processors feel that the availability of quality wood is good, but that rational forestry and the human factor as well as current regulations contribute to the loss of quality wood.
