This study aimed to examine the hardships that teachers encounter in Swedish schools, when facing foreign pupils from 7th grade up to 9th, with no knowledge of the English language. These hardships stem from the different methods that are required to provide English lessons for these students. We have thoroughly examined these methods alongside their affiliation with bilingualism and multilingualism. In order to investigate the teaching methods, interviews and observation sessions were conducted in several schools. The results show the difficulties and challenges that teachers face while teaching English to immigrant students. Additionally, different views and opinions were found on how to deal with all the different materials and methods that can be helpful in the teaching process. Moreover, the findings show that using the mother tongue and additional school resources can be beneficial in teaching English as a third language.
