Interpretation of a room : Case study of early interiors at Årås manor (English)
Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

Årås manor and its surrounding environment is a place of cultural heritage. The buildings on the grounds is owned and taken care of since the 1980s by an individual rural association. The Corps de Logi was re-built in early 17th century after a fire in 1792. Since then the building have had more than 20 different patrons who all left a piece of themselves in its walls. The purpose of this thesis is to establish a possible description of previous interior color schemes and materials and also to work as a guide used by the association in future restoration projects. Methods include research of technical documentation and literature, interview, ocular inspection and technical analysis of chosen surfaces. In future restoration projects traditional materials and techniques should be used to keep the historical atmosphere. All layers in the building is part of its history and that is also an aspect that should be taken into consideration when planning future restoration projects.
