Abstract [en]

In today’s data-driven world the amount of data is huge, and effective decision-making requires a digital solution with integrated visual interaction designs and considering complex network systems. This thesis explores the development of an interactive, web-based data visualization framework designed to enhance collaborative policy and decision-making. Taking the principles from Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and visual interaction design guidelines, this project implements a data visualization tool that allows decision-makers to navigate and analyze complex networks through interactive networks. Key features include filtering, network visualization, and the PageRank algorithm for node appearance. The framework is developed using Python, Javascript, and HTML. The project’s methodology combines literature review, qualitative research, and iterative framework enhancement, guided by usability principles to ensure an intuitive User Experience (UX). The main purpose of this thesis is to enhance collaborative decision-making. Results indicated that interactive visualizations support informed policy decisions.

I dagens datadrivna värld är mängden data enorm, och effektivt beslutsfattande kräver en digital lösning med integrerade visuella interaktionsdesigner samt hänsyn till komplexa nätverkssystem. Denna avhandling utforskar utvecklingen av ett interaktivt, webbaserat datavisualiseringsramverk utformat för att förbättra samarbetspolitik och beslutsfattande. Med principerna från människa-datorinteraktion (HCI) och riktlinjer för visuell interaktionsdesign, implementerar detta projekt ett datavisualiseringsverktyg som gör det möjligt för beslutsfattare att navigera och analysera komplexa nätverk genom interaktiva nätverk. Nyckelfunktioner inkluderar filtrering, nätverksvisualisering och PageRank-algoritmen för nodens utseende. Ramverket utvecklas med hjälp av Python, JavaScript och HTML. Projektets metodik kombinerar litteraturgranskning, kvalitativ forskning och iterativ ramförbättring, styrd av användbarhetsprinciper för att säkerställa en intuitiv användarupplevelse. Ramverket stödjer främst de samverkande beslutsfattare. Resultaten visade att interaktiva visualiseringar stöder välgrundade policybeslut.
