During the 19th century, the engineers were dominant. During the 20th century, the architects have been mentioned as creators of a new challenging architecture. Throughout history, the development of new materials has inspired engineers and architects to utilize them in new constructions and new architecture. Factors such as economy and efficiency have been governing, which in turn have led to elegant material-efficient solutions. In the new architecture, the external form is usually at the centre and efficiency in materials and constructions ends up on the sidelines. This shows that all new architecture is not in compliance with building energy-efficiently. A developed collaboration between architects and engineers provides every opportunity to build an elegant architecture that is more consistent with the times. The aim of the study has been to find out how architecture has developed after Antoni Gaudí in today's world and what architectural challenges there are to further develop Gaudí's concept in today's building technology. In order to achieve the purpose and goals, a study trip has been carried out in Spain. The compiled results and the analysis have shown that architecture is a lifestyle that is more than a design and that architecture requires a new engineering art. Today, there are architects in modern times who use inspirations from Antoni Gaudí. Things that can be further developed based on Gaudí's concept include: Using organic architecture, prioritizing light, geometric shapes and developing Gaudí's ventilation system.

Under 1800-talet var ingenjörerna dominerande. Under 1900-talet har arkitekterna nämnts som skapare för en ny utmanande arkitektur. Genom historien har utvecklingen av nya material inspirerat ingenjörer och arkitekter till att utnyttja dem i nya konstruktioner och ny arkitektur. Faktorer som ekonomi och effektivitet har varit styrande som i sin tur har lett fram till eleganta materialeffektiva lösningar. I den nya arkitekturen är den yttre formen oftast i centrum och effektivitet i material och konstruktioner hamnar vid sidan. Detta visar att all ny arkitektur inte är i överensstämmelse med att bygga energisnålt. Ett utvecklat samarbete mellan arkitekter och ingenjörer finns alla möjligheter att bygga en elegant arkitektur som är mer överensstämmelse med tiden. Studiens målsättning har varit att komma fram till hur arkitekturen har utvecklats efter Antoni Gaudí i dagens värld och att vilka byggnadstekniska utmaningar det finns för att vidareutveckla Gaudís koncept i dagens byggnadsteknik. För att uppnå syfte och mål har en studieresa genomförts i Spanien. Det sammanställa resultatet och analysen har visat att arkitektur är en livsstil som är mer än en formgivning samt att arkitektur kräver en ny ingenjörskonst. Idag finns det arkitekter på modern tid som använder inspirationer från Antoni Gaudí. Det som kan vidareutvecklas utifrån Gaudís koncept är bland annat: Använda organisk arkitektur, prioritera ljuset, geometriska former och utveckla Gaudís ventilationssystemet
