Abstract [en]

The purpose of this study is to understand and analyze how individuals in leadership positions within the construction industry promote group dynamics in multicultural groups. The aim is to investigate, through interviews and scholarly articles, the strategies and methods employed by leaders in the construction industry to foster group dynamics in multicultural environments. The study involved interviews with nine different individuals holding leadership roles within construction companies in Sweden.

To cultivate group dynamics, many leaders emphasize the importance of involvement and participation, as well as openness to allowing individuals the opportunity to contribute. This is particularly relevant within multicultural groups, as the Swedish construction industry has much to learn from craftsmen with foreign backgrounds. However, there are challenges for leaders of multicultural groups, where clarity in communication is crucial, as it is their responsibility to ensure that things are carried out correctly. Additionally, gender culture within diversity is significant, especially within the construction industry, which is primarily male-dominated. By integrating more women into the industry, we broaden our perspectives and introduce new viewpoints.
