Denna studies syfte var att söka kunskap om samhällets stöd till en man som blivit utsatt för våld av en kvinna. Målet med studien var att bidra med kunskap kring ämnet “män som våldsoffer i en intim relation” och i vilken omfattning våldet förekommer. Studien består av en litteraturöversikt där sju artiklar har granskats. Varje artikel är utvalda efter ett målinriktat urval. Resultatet presenteras utifrån en tematisk analys med stöd av de identifierade teman som var makt, stigma och skam. Resultatet visar att män blir utsatta för våld i nära relation men berättar sällan om det de blir utsatta för, samt att de inte söker hjälp då de upplever sig inte bli trodda. Studien har därför visat att det finns ett behov av att fler män får hjälp och kan våga berätta om sin utsatthet i större utsträckning, samt att stöd för män som blir utsatta för våld är bristande.

The aim of this study was to seek knowledge about society’s support for men who are subjected to violence by women. The goal of the study was to contribute knowledge about the subject of “men as victims of violence in an intimate relationship” and to what extent the violence occurs. The study consists of a literature review where seven articles have been reviewed. Each article was selected after a targeted selection. The results are presented based on a thematic analysis with the support of the identified themes which were power, stigma and shame. The results show that men are exposed to violence in close relationships but rarely talk about what they are exposed to, and that they do not seek help because they feel they are not believed. The study has therefore shown that there is a need for more men to receive help and to be able to speak about their vulnerability to a greater extent and that there is a lack of support for men who are exposed to violence
