Denna studie tillämpar en diskursanalytisk metod, baserad på teorier av Laclau och Mouffe, för att analysera teorimanualen för Mentorer i Våldsprevention (MVP). Genom att undersöka de hegemoniska och ideologiska antaganden som präglar manualens beskrivning av sociala problem såsom våld och ojämställdhet, syftar forskningen till att synliggöra underliggande mekanismer som formar dessa representationer. Analysen identifierar centrala diskurser inom manualen, med fokus på nyckelbegrepp som maskulinitet, jämställdhet och våld. Dessa granskas genom en noggrann undersökning av nodpunkter, flytande signifikanter och ekvivalenskedjor. Resultaten indikerar att även om MVP strävar efter att utmana stereotypa normer, riskerar modellen samtidigt att reproducera vissa hegemoniska strukturer. Studien betonar vikten av kritisk reflektion över preventiva sociala insatser för att undvika att förstärka underförstådda antaganden. Detta bidrar till en djupare förståelse av hur språk och ideologi påverkar inramningen av sociala fenomen och de potentiella konsekvenserna för socialt arbete.

This study applies a discourse-analytical framework, grounded in the theories of Laclau and Mouffe, to examine the theoretical manual of Mentors in Violence Prevention (MVP). By exploring hegemonic and ideological assumptions embedded in MVP’s portrayal of social problems such as violence and gender inequality, the research seeks to uncover underlying mechanisms that shape these issues' representation. The analysis identifies central discourses within the manual, focusing on key concepts such as masculinity, equality, and violence. These are interrogated through a detailed examination of nodal points, floating signifiers, and chains of equivalence. The findings suggest that while MVP aims to challenge stereotypical norms, it simultaneously risks reproducing certain hegemonic structures. The study emphasizes the importance of critically reflecting on preventive social interventions to avoid perpetuating implicit biases. This contributes to a deeper understanding of how language and ideology influence the framing of social phenomena and the potential implications for social work practices.
