Abstract [sv]

 Bakgrund: Patienter som vårdades isolerade under covid-19-pandemin erfor känslor av ensamhet, stress och depression. En anledning var den bristande kontakten med deras anhöriga och sjuksköterskorna. Anhöriga till de isolerade patienterna kände sig ofta hjälplösa och stressade på grund av besöksförbuden. Sjuksköterskornas empatiska stöd och tydliga information sågs av patienterna och deras anhöriga som avgörande under denna utmanande tid. Syftet: Syftet var att beskriva sjuksköterskors erfarenheter av att vårda isolerade patienter med covid-19. Metod: En allmän litteraturöversikt utfördes på 9 kvalitativa artiklar och 3 kvantitativa artiklar. Resultat: Sjuksköterskorna erfor psykiska påfrestningar orsakat av risken att smittas, samt att smitta deras anhöriga. Resursbrist i form av personal och skyddsutrustning, ledde till långa arbetsdagar och svårigheter att ge patienterna nödvändig vård. Detta gjorde även att sjuksköterskorna inte kunde tillhandahålla en god vård. Kommunikationssvårigheter med patienterna och deras anhöriga försvårade vårdandet. Dessa utmaningar skapade etiska dilemman när sjuksköterskorna balanserade yrkesansvar med personliga behov, vilket ledde till känslor av otillräcklighet och osäkerhet i beslutsfattande och vård. Det förekom likheter och skillnader i resultatet. Slutsats: Sjuksköterskorna erfor stora utmaningar i vården av covid-19-patienter på grund av de känslomässiga påfrestningarna de fick utstå samt resursbrist. För framtida pandemier behövdes bättre beredskap, utbildning och resurser.

Abstract [en]

 Background: Patients who were isolated during the covid-19 pandemic experienced feelings of loneliness, stress, and depression. One reason was the lack of contact with their relatives and nurses. Relatives of the isolated patients often felt helpless and stressed due to the visitation restrictions. The nurses' empathetic support and clear communication were seen by patients and their relatives as crucial during this challenging time. Aim: The aim was to describe nurses' experiences of caring for isolated patients with covid-19. Method: A general literature review was conducted on 9 qualitative articles and 3 quantitative articles. Results: Nurses experienced psychological stress due to the fear of being infected, and of infecting their families. Resource shortages, both in terms of staff and protective equipment, resulted in long working hours and difficulties in providing necessary care to patients. This also prevented nurses from providing quality care. Communication difficulties with patients and relatives complicated caregiving. These challenges created ethical dilemmas as nurses balanced professional responsibility with personal needs, leading to feelings of inadequacy and uncertainty in decision-making and care delivery. There were similarities and differences in the results. Conclusion: Nurses faced significant challenges in caring for covid-19 patients due to the emotional strain they endured and the lack of resources. For future pandemics, better preparation, education, and resources were needed.
