Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

Interviews and observations have been suitable methods in order to find out personal empiricism about why one wants to chat interact with Kai Cenat. The experience is linked to theories based on uses and gratification by Katz et al. (1973), McQuail (2005) and parasocial theory by Horton and Wohl (1956). In the analysis, five themes could be identified: compensated intimacy, affective and cognitive needs, emotional investment and trust. Some reasoning suggests that individuals can be validated by Kai Cenat in a virtual world when they are not validated in a society in which they live. Keywords: Kai Cenat, Twitch, audience, intimacy, interview, parasocial theory, uses and gratification.
