The study is a qualitative analysis of four school books that are intended for upper secondary education and are handled within the field of research in religious education. Using content analysis as a method, the study wants to see if the four selected school books follow the latest research in religious pluralism. The theory used in the essay is religious pluralism by Olivier Roy. The school books are reflected in a secularized Sweden where many religions interact and there is a great diversity around religions and people and that makes it to a certain extent. As previous research has shown a significant use of textbooks among teachers and that the religious pluralism perspective can contribute to a more inclusive religious education. The conclusions of this study show that textbooks contain material identified as religious pluralism. The essay concludes by saying that this study lays the foundation for further examinations into the use of textbooks in teaching about religious pluralism.
