Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

The study is phenomenographic with the aim of contributing knowledge about the varying perceptions that preschool staff have regarding the duty to report. This is investigated through a combined qualitative and quantitative survey answered by 54 preschool staff members spread across Sweden. The different outcome spaces identified in the phenomenographic analysis model were categorized in the results under duty to report and the role of the preschool. Under duty to report, various aspects of when reports are made or not, and why, are highlighted. Meanwhile, under the role of the preschool, how staff work within the organization with children who show signs that something is not right is highlighted. The study found that preschool staff lack knowledge about child abuse, lack confidence in their own judgment, cooperation with social services is lacking, and training is needed in all categories regarding the duty to report.
