Abstract [en]

This is a qualitative study with a phenomenographic approach that aims topresent how preschool teachers act when there is suspicion that a child isneglected at home. We chose to conduct semi-structured interviews withpreschool teachers who have experience of children where there is a suspicionof that they are being neglected at home. We used this method to get as detailedand nuanced empiricism as possible. The result shows that the preschoolteachers have varying opinions of physical and emotional neglect and goodknowledge regarding routines and actions when dealing a situation that includea neglected child. In the study's conclusion, preschool teachers' experiencesand competence are clarified as a central aspect of the subject, where theexisting competence needs to be further developed to reach the number ofunreported children who live in vulnerability.

Abstract [sv]

Detta är en kvalitativ studie med en fenomenografisk ansats som syftar till attpresentera hur förskollärare agerar vid misstanke om att ett barn försummas ihemmet. Vi valde att genomföra semistrukturerade intervjuer medförskollärare som har erfarenhet av barn som misstänks försummas i hemmet,för att få ett så detaljrikt och nyanserat underlag som möjligt. I resultatetframkommer det att förskollärarna har varierande uppfattningar om fysiskoch emotionell försummelse och god kunskap gällande rutiner och agerandevid hantering av en situation där ett barn försummas. Studiens slutsatstydliggörs förskollärares erfarenheter och kompetens som en central aspektinom ämnet, där den befintliga kompetensen behöver vidareutvecklas för attnå mörkertalet av barn som lever i utsatthet.
