Social work aims to solve difficult social problems and help vulnerable people. In social work, ethics is a basic principle because social workers work in close contact with people and make a decision that affects their lives. This study deals with room for action and ethical dilemmas in social work, focusing on these aspects in the meeting with clients. The purpose is to highlight the social worker's challenges that they face when meeting with clients. Through a literature study of scientific articles, the study has mapped social workers' challenges in different contexts. The articles are analyzed using Lipsky's theory, application ethics and discourse ethics to provide a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by the social worker.  The results show that social workers are often forced to navigate between organizational guidelines and the client's requirements/needs, which limits their room for action. The results also show that social workers are faced with challenges regarding how they should handle power in the meeting with clients, which often leads to ethical dilemmas. Further in the results, it also appears that ethical dilemmas arise when social workers are forced to choose between following the organization's guidelines and meeting the client's needs. The theoretical perspectives on agency and ethical dilemma help us to understand the dilemmas that social workers face, especially when it comes to balancing the needs of the client and the goals of the organization. The results also show that social workers need more support to deal with challenges in their work. In conclusion, the results show that more research is needed on how social workers can reduce the ethical dilemmas that arise in the meeting with clients and on how social workers can handle room for action in connection with power in the meeting with clients.  Socialt arbete syftar till att lösa svåra sociala problem och hjälpa utsatta människor. Etik är en grundprincip inom socialt arbete, eftersom socialarbetare arbetar i nära kontakt med människor och fattar beslut som påverkar deras liv. 

 Den här studien handlar om handlingsutrymme och etiska dilemman inom socialt arbete, med fokus på dessa aspekter i mötet med klienter. Syftet är att belysa de utmaningar som socialarbetaren ställs inför i mötet med klienterna. Genom en litteraturstudie av vetenskapliga artiklar har studien kartlagt socialarbetarnas utmaningar i olika kontexter. Artiklarna analyseras med hjälp av Lipskys teori om handlingsutrymme, Kants teori om deontologi och Habermas teori om diskursetik för att ge en djupare förståelse och helhetsbild av de utmaningar som socialarbetaren möter. Resultatet visar att socialarbetare ofta tvingas navigera mellan organisatoriska riktlinjer och klientens krav/behov, vilket begränsar deras handlingsutrymme. Det framkommer också att socialarbetare ställs inför utmaningar kring hur de ska hantera makt i mötet med klienterna, vilket ofta leder till etiska dilemman. Vidare visar resultaten att etiska dilemman uppstår när socialarbetare tvingas välja mellan att följa organisationens riktlinjer och att tillgodose klientens behov. De teoretiska perspektiven på handlingsutrymme och etiska dilemman hjälper oss att förstå de dilemman som socialarbetare ställs inför, särskilt när det gäller att balansera mellan klientens behov och organisationens mål. Slutligen visar resultaten att socialarbetare behöver mer stöd för att hantera utmaningar i sitt arbete. Det framgår också att mer forskning behövs om hur socialarbetare kan minska de etiska dilemman som uppstår i mötet med klienterna, samt om hur socialarbetare kan hantera handlingsutrymme i samband med makt i mötet med klienter.
