Abstract [sv]

Det finns en växande insikt om vilken roll ljudlandskap spelar i utvecklingen av städer och samhällen. Denna studie undersöker hur naturliga, teknologiska och mänskliga ljud påverkar tillfredsställelse och preferenser för ljudlandskap i bostadsområden, med fokus på ljudkomplexitet och ljudnivå. Med hjälp av ett ljudlandskapssimuleringssystem designade och utvärderade deltagarna ljudlandskap för två olika bostadsmiljöer. Resultaten visade att preferenser varierade beroende på sammanhang: naturliga ljud föredrogs i trafikintensiva områden, medan mänskliga ljud föredrogs på lekplatsen. Tillfredsställelse var kopplat till en balans mellan ljudkomplexitet och ljudnivå. Studien nämner också vikten av ett holistiskt synsätt i ljudlandskapsdesign, med beaktande av olika sensoriska input som kan påverka den totala upplevelsen och tillfredsställelsen.

Abstract [en]

There is growing recognition of the role that soundscapes play in the development of cities and communities. This study investigates how natural, technological, and human sounds influence the satisfaction and preference for residential area soundscapes, with a focus on sound complexity and sound level. Using a soundscape simulation system, participants designed and evaluated soundscapes for two different residential environments. Results indicated that preferences varied based on context: natural sounds were favored in traffic-heavy areas, while human sounds were preferred in the playground. Satisfaction was linked to a balance of sound complexity and level. The study also mentions the importance of a holistic approach in soundscape design, considering various sensory inputs, which might influence the overall experience and satisfaction.
