Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

This master thesis report presents the development, simulation, and testing of a redesign edmembrane vacuum pump aimed at improving performance. Free body diagrams and equilibrium equations were derived to analyze forces on the pump’s components, with MATLAB used for calculations. Simulation results guided the design process, leading to the creation of a functional prototype. Bearing life was evaluated using SKF’s equation, revealing potential premature failure issues. Testing indicated that the redesigned pump exceeded expectations in maximum airflow, using multiple runs to ensure accuracy. Recommendations include addressing bearing load issues and further testing under realistic conditions. The project demonstrated significant progress in pump performance enhancement, with suggestions for future improvements and potential market readiness.
