SAMMANFATTNING

Introduktion: Suicid är ett folkhälsoproblem i Sverige och i världen. Fler än en tredjedel av de individer som avlidit genom suicid i Sverige har varit i kontakt med hälso- och sjukvården för hjälp någon gång innan de avslutat sitt liv. Därför är det viktigt för all hälso- och sjukvårdspersonal att ha tillräcklig kunskap om suicid och suicidprevention.

Syfte: Syftet var att beskriva patienters upplevelser av vård efter suicidförsök.

Metod: En kvalitativ litteraturöversikt där tio artiklar inkluderades från databaserna PubMed och CINAHL. Artiklarna kvalitetsgranskades med SBU:s granskningsmall för kvalitativa studier och analyserades sedan med Fribergs analysmodell för litteraturöversikt.

Resultat:  Tre teman och sju subteman identifierades. Upplevelse av fungerande vård med subteman Personcentrerat bemötande, Relation med sjuksköterskan och Delaktighet. Upplevelse av icke fungerande vård med subtemanStigmatisering och Kompetensbrist. Förutsättningar för framtiden med subteman Förtroende och Motivation. Resultatet visade att det var av vikt för patienterna att sjuksköterskan insåg att ett suicidförsök innebär en traumatisk upplevelse och att det krävs tid och tålamod för att bearbeta detta. Resultatet visade också att sjuksköterskor behöver ökad kompetens i att bemöta patienter med psykisk ohälsa.

Slutsats: Patienter upplevde en stigmatisering kring suicid och vågade därför inte öppna upp sig för närstående och sjukvårdspersonal. En fungerande vård innefattade en god relation med sjuksköterskan och när patienten bemöttes med tålamod, empati och kände sig sedd kunde denne öppna upp och berätta om sina tankar och känslor. Detta ledde sedan till hopp och framtidstro hos patienten.

ABSTRACT

Introduction: Suicide is a public health problem in Sweden and worldwide. More than a third of the individuals who died by suicide in Sweden contacted the health and medical services for help some time before they decided to end their life. Therefore, all healthcare personnel need to have sufficient knowledge about suicide and suicide prevention.

Aim: The aim was to describe patients' experiences of care after suicide attempts.

Method: A qualitative literature review in which ten articles were included from PubMed and CINAHL databases. The articles were quality reviewed using SBU's review template for qualitative studies and then analyzed using Friberg's analysis model for literature review.

Results: Three themes and seven subthemes were identified. Experience and Functioning Care with the sub-themes ofPerson-centred Treatment, Relationship with the Nurse and Participation. Experience of Non-functioning Care with the sub-themes of Stigmatization and Lack of Competence. Prerequisites for the Future with the sub-themes of Trust andMotivation. The results show that it was important for patients that nurses understand that suicide attempt is a traumatic experience and that it takes time and patience to process. The results also showed that nurses need increased competence in dealing with patients with mental illness.

Conclusion: Patients experienced a stigma around suicide and, therefore, did not dare to open up to relatives and healthcare professionals. Functional care included a good relationship with the nurse, and when the patient was treated with patience and empathy and felt seen, they could open up and talk about their thoughts and feelings. This led the patient to feel hope and manage to believe in the future.
