Abstract [sv]

Bakgrund: Barn med övervikt är ett växande problem där den främsta orsaken är ohälsosam kost och/eller för lite fysisk aktivitet. Barn med övervikt riskerar utöver fetma och psykosociala konsekvenser att ådra sig följdsjukdomar såsom diabetes, hjärt-kärlsjukdomar och cancer. Distriktssköterskor vid Barnhälsovården (BHV) som i princip möter alla barn i Sverige, har en viktig roll i att förebygga ohälsa hos barn och att tidigt identifiera samt initiera åtgärder vid upptäckt av problem i barns hälsa.

Syfte: Syftet med studien var att beskriva BHV-sjuksköterskors erfarenhet av det preventiva arbetet mot barns övervikt.

Metod: Två semistrukturerade fokusgruppsintervjuer genomfördes (n=7). Intervjuerna analyserades med kvalitativ innehållsanalys.

Resultat: Analysen resulterade i tre kategorier: Främja hälsosamma levnadsvanor, Hinder i det preventiva arbetet samt Bra samspel med föräldrar underlättar det preventiva arbetet. Resultatet visade att BHV-sjuksköterskorna arbetar preventivt mot barn med övervikt med hjälp av hälsosamtal, tillväxtkontroll samt har möjlighet till samordning med andra professioner. Identifierade hinder i arbetet är att övervikt upplevs som ett känsligt ämne samt att många föräldrar är svåra att nå. Underlättande faktorer identifierades som när det uppstår ett bra samspel med föräldrarna.

Slutsats: Det finns tydliga riktlinjer kring hanteringen av barn med övervikt och att dessa i större utsträckning bör implementeras i BVCverksamheterna.

Abstract [en]

Background: Children suffering from being overweight is a growing problem and the main cause of overweight is unhealthy diet and / or too little physical activity. In addition to psychosocial consequences and obesity, children with overweight are at risk of sequelae such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease and cancer. District nurses working in Child Health Care (CHC), who sees nearly all children in Sweden, have an important role in preventing illness, early identification of illness and initiate actions when problems in children's health is detected.

Aim: The purpose of the study was to describe the CHC-nurse's experience of the preventive work against overweight in children.

Method: Two semi-structured focus group interviews (n=7) were conducted at child health care centers. The interviews were analyzed with qualitative content analysis.

Result: The analysis resulted in three categories: Promoting healthy living habits, Obstacles in the preventive work and Good interaction with parents facilitate the preventive work. The result showed that the nurses work preventively against overweight in children by having dialog of health habits, growth control and the possibility of coordination with other professions. Identified obstacles are overweight among children is perceived as a sensitive topic and that many parents are difficult to reach. Facilitating factors were identified as when a good interaction with the parents occurs.

Conclusion: The authors of the study found that there are clear guidelines on the management of overweight children and that these should be implemented to a greater extent in the CHC.
