Abstract [sv]

Syftet: Syftet var att beskriva barnmorskors erfarenheter av att inkludera partners vid amningsvägledning. Metod: En kvalitativ ansats applicerades genom att åtta barnmorskor på en BB-avdelning medverkade i semistrukturerade intervjuer. Materialet analyserades med en induktiv manifest innehållsanalys vilket genererade i tre kategorier med tillhörande subkategorier. Resultat: Barnmorskors erfarenheter av amningsvägledning påverkas av faktorer som beror på intresse från partners men också organisatoriska förhållanden. Erfarenheter av hinder som påverkar amningsvägledningen till partners beskrivs. Barnmorskorna beskriver hur de förverkligar engagemanget hos partners i amningsvägledningen genom att ge anpassad information och praktiska råd. Det blir tydligt hur partners involvering i amningsvägledningen frambringar ett stöd till kvinnan i amningen. Fördelar för både partners och barnmorskor beskrivs när partners inkluderas vid amningsvägledning.  Slutsats: Barnmorskor ser inkludering av partners vid amningsvägledning som viktig och försöker tillgodose det utifrån partners behov och situation. Partners beskrivs ha olika förkunskaper utifrån intresse, kulturell bakgrund samt om partnern är samkönad. Dessutom måste barnmorskor ta i beaktande de hinder som försvårar inkluderingen av partners vid amningsvägledning, till exempel tidsbrist och de partners med negativa åsikter gällande amning.

Abstract [en]

Aim: The aim was to describe midwives’ experiences of including partners during breastfeeding guidance. Method: A qualitative approach was applied by using semi-structured interviews on eight midwives in a postpartum department and breastfeeding reception. The data was analysed by using an inductive manifest content analysis which generated three categories with associated subcategories. Results: Midwives experiences of breastfeeding guidance was affected of factors which depends on the interest from partners but also organizational conditions. Experiences of hindrance that can affect breastfeeding guidance to partners was described. Midwives described how they actualize partners involvement in breastfeeding guidance by giving adapted information and practical advice. It came clear how partners involvement in breastfeeding guidance generates a support to the breastfeeding woman. Advantages for both partners and midwives are described when partners are included in breastfeeding guidance. Conclusion: Midwives can see how the including of partners in breastfeeding guidance are important and they try to satisfy that from partners needs and situation. Partners are described to have different prior knowledge from interest, cultural background and if the partner have the same sex as the breastfeeding woman. The midwives must regard the hindrance that complicates the inclusion of partners in breastfeeding guidance, for example time constraints and partners with negative opinions according to breastfeeding.
