Abstract [en]
The use of products made from plastic material continues to increase and this increase has a negative impact at our planet. This project where shaped in cooperation with Stora Enso and their division for biocomposite. This division is working hard to find a way to reduce the plastic use by explore other options. One of the demands for this project was to find the best market to be able to make a change but also that the product could be produced with a large scale 3D-printer which is customized for granulates. Another demand was to examine however there was a possibility to use the same 3D-printer for large scale production and not only for prototyping. After using different tools for analyzing the market, such as PEST-DN and 7P, an evaluation over the different stakeholders was made. At the same time, a survey was made with answers from different companies at different markets to see if there is any interests for biocomposite and 3D-printing. The result of the evaluation landed at production of furniture’s. This segment was the one whom would have the largest and greatest benefits from a material- and production change. The project group decided to get in contact with AJ Produkter, a furniture company for the workplace, which was showing interest in the project and therefor wanted to contribute with a unique design of a concept chair. In the beginning of May this design was sent to BLB Industries, the owner and producer of the granulate 3D-printers, for print. This resulted in the finished chair that will be shown at Utexpo June 2019.Beyond the result consisting the chair, an analyze has been made over three different strategies for optimal disposal of the material. A business model has been made for the strategy the student group considers to be most accurate for Stora Enso to continue working with based on earlier mentioned analysis methods.
