This report aims to study what young people in Hagfors have to say about norms and  opportunities in the society, and to lift their voice through visual communication. The  theoretical framework on which the study is based is norms and norm criticism, which focus  on norms about country and city, empowerment and message strategy. The solution to the  project is based on design and visual communication and therefore norm-critical design and  design activism were chosen as theoretical design entrances. The survey was done through  qualitative methods, interviews and focus groups, with action research as the starting point.  Eight youths participated in the study and provided the basis for results and analysis. The  results showed that young people don’t have their own voice in the rural area and that  Hagfors, as well as the individual’s personal development, is limited by norms. Based on  theory and analysis, a campaign prototype was formed through posters in which the voice of  the youths is lifted in a norm-critical perspective to create empowerment. The method of the  study can be placed on all sparsely populated areas, in order for site-based to convey the  voice of young people.
