Abstract [sv]

Syftet med studien är att undersöka  hur lärare i fritidshem beskriver sitt uppdrag att utbilda demokratiska medborgare. Denna studie vilar på en kvalitativ forskningsstrategi. Tre olika forkusgruppintervjuer är genomförda med lärare i fritidshem på tre olika skolor. Studien visar att fritidshemmet är en arena där det finns möjlighet för eleven att leva i en demokratisk anda. Genom lärarens agerande och organisering av undervisning blir fritidshemmet en plats där eleven kan utveckla en demokratisk förmåga, förhållningsätt och kompetens. Det situationstyrda och upplevelsebaserade lärandet med gruppen som grund ökar skolans möjlighet att lyckas med bildningsuppdraget att utbilda demokratiska medborgare.

Abstract [en]

The purpose of the study is examine how teachers of leisure-time centers dicloses theres mission to educate democratic citizents. This study is based upon a qualitative research strategy. Three different focus group interviews with teachers at leisure-time centers of three different schools have been conducted. The study shows that the leisure-time center  is an arena providing opportunities for the student to develop in the spirit of democracy. Through the actions of the teacher and the organisation of education the leisure-time center becomes a place where the student develops a democratic ability, approach and competence. The situational and experience based pedagogy based on the group provides increased opportunities for schools to succeed in its educational mission to form democratic citizens.
