Abstract [sv]

Rapporten avser att återge en undersökning av ett luftintagsystem på en av Scanias lastbilar. Ett luftintagsystems primära funktion är att transportera luft till motorn medan systemets akustiska egenskaper är sekundära. Kort beskrivet består systemet av ett inlopp, partikelfilter och ett utlopp. Det huvudsakliga syftet var att undersöka ifall spridningsmatrisen kunde användas för att utvärdera akustiken för systemet. I fokus stod att undersöka de akustiska egenskaperna för partikelfiltret. Mätningarna utfördes i ett akustiklaboratorie på Scanias anläggning i Södertälje. Mätfallen delades upp i tio olika fall där frekvenssvarsfunktionen för samtliga sex mikrofoner erhölls, samt koherensen mellan högtalare och mikrofon. Experimentet utfördes utan medelströmning. Resultaten visade på att de teoretiska antaganden som användes inte var lämpliga för båda sidorna om partikelfiltret. Mätvärdena på inloppsidan om filtret stördes av systematiska mätfel medan mätvärdena på utloppsidan om filtret ansågs teoretiskt korrekta. Slutsatsen blev att det inte fungerade att utvärdera luftintagsystemet med hjälp av spridningsmatris, åtminstone inte givet de teoretiska antagandena.

Abstract [en]

This report's objective is to reproduce a investigation of an air inlet system on one of Scania's trucks. An air inlet system primary function is to tranport air to the engine while the system's acoustic properties are secondary. The system contains of an inlet, particle filter and a outlet. The main purpose was to investigate the acoustic properties of the particle filter. The measurements were performed in one of Scania's acoustic laboratories in Södertälje. The measuring cases were divided into ten different cases where the frequency transfer function for each of the six microphones were measured, as well as the coherence between loud speaker and microphone. The experiment was done without mean flow. The results showed that the theoretical assumptions which were made weren't suitable for both sides of the particle filter. The measurements on the inlet side were disturbed by systematical errors while the measurements on the outlet side were considered correct. The conclusion was that it wasn't possible to evaluate the air inlet system by analysis of the scattering matrix, at least not by using the given assumptions.
