Automation of quality control in manufacturing of gears (English)
Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

A focus on continuous improvement has led Scania to review the degree of automation of their quality controls in their transmission department. According to the theory, an automated inspection should increase reliability and reduce the number of deviations that go on to the customer. In the thesis work it was investigated whether it is possible to automate today's quality controls and what the possible risks and consequences will be as a result of replacing the current manual inspection. With these conditions it was decided to collect data using a qualitative method including interviews, company contact, literature search and study visits. The data collection resulted in contact with four companies, where one of whom could meet the quality requirements that were set.
