Streamlinging of the hydroelectric at Dala Energi AB (English)
Abstract [en]

The project has been conducted into two parts.

The purpose with the first part of the project was to enable mobile reading of signals from small scaled hydro plants. To do this an electrical signal circuit was designed and built together. The circuit would send the measured signals from the power plants via the internet to a mobile application. The signal circuit was tested at one of Dala Energis hydro plants. The test results show that the measured values displayed at the hydro plant were correctly displayed at the mobile application. This largely facilitates service in the plants.

The second part of the project was to find an effective method to make Dala Energi’s existing hydro plants more effective as many of the stations are struggling with the profitability. During this part calculations in efficiency, hourly prices, investments in remote control systems and finally revenue were made for the hydro stations in Gimmån, Rällsjöfors, Vådån and Skeberg. The efficiency calculations were carried out in the hydro plants in Rällsjöfors and Gimmån. The investment calculations for remote controlled stations were carried out at the station in Gimmån. The results from the calculations in hourly-prices showed that the hydro plants, at realistic conditions, are able to increase their revenues by between 19,89 and 43,20 percent by producing energy when electricity prices are as high as possible. The efficiency of the hydro plants in Gimmån and Rällsjöfors was calculated to 33,35 and 34,46 percent respectively. The numbers is calculated on vague theoretical values. To ensure the correct efficiency measurements should be made in the stations. The investment of a complete remote control system in Gimmån's power station was estimated to have a repayment period of 6 years and 8 months.
