Abstract [sv]

Många barn och ungdomar drömmer eller har någon gång drömt om att lyckes inom sportensvärld. Att kunna leva på sin sport är det få som lyckas med och att sedan bli ekonomisktoberoende är det ännu färre som blir. Att studera efter gymnasiet tror många tar mer tid och ärsvårare än vad det egentligen är och ser det då som ett hinder mot en eventuell proffskarriär. Iden här studien är syftet att undersöka vilken inställning elitsatsande ishockeyungdomar somgår och har gått på ett ishockeygymnasium har till sin ishockeykarriär och studier. Vi användeoss av kvalitativa intervjuer för att få svar på våra frågeställningar. I resultatet tar vi upprespondenternas tankar om deras syn på ishockeysatsning i kombination med gymnasiestudieroch eftergymnasiala studier. Samt deras tankar om vilka som påverkar deras syn på karriärval,både inom utanför ishockeyn. Alla respondenter hade som mål att lyckas inom ishockeyn ochishockeyn är det de prioriterar högst. Få hade börjat tänka på eftergymnasiala studier men förde få som gjorde det var college det enda alternativet som de ansåg gick att kombinera medsin elitsatsning. Alla respondenter tror dock att mer information från gymnasiet om de olikaalternativen i Sverige kunde göra att synen hade ändrats. Resultaten i denna studie angåendekombinationen av elitsatsning och gymnasiestudier går i linje med tidigare forskning, därresultatet visar att studierna kommer i andra hand. När det gäller kombinationen elitsatsningoch eftergymnasiala studier finns det väldigt lite forskning att jämföra med.

Abstract [en]

A lot of kids and young adults dreams or have sometimes dreamt of succeeding in the worldof sports. There are few that can make a living out of their sport and even fewer that becomefinancially independent. A lot of young adults thinks it takes more time than it really does tostudy after high school. And they see it as an obstacle towards a possible professional career.In this study the purpose is to examine what attitude young elite initiative ice hockey players,that goes to a high school with ice hockey focus and those who have graduated from the sameschool, have towards their ice hockey career and education. To do so we have conductedqualitative interviews to answer our questions. In the results we bring up the respondentsthoughts about their elite initiative in combination with their education both on high schooland after. Also their thoughts about who influences them in their career choices, both in andout of ice hockey. All six respondents had similar goals with their ice hockey and ice hockeyis what they priorities the highest. Only a few of the respondents has started to think aboutcontinuing their studies after high school and they thought that the only way to combine icehockey and education after high school was to go to college in the USA. All the respondentsthought that more information from the high school about different alternatives in Sweden canmake them change their attitude towards a combination of elite initiative and education afterhigh school in Sweden. The results in this study about the combination of elite initiative andhigh school studies agrees with previous research, the results shows that education isn’t asimportant as ice hockey. When it comes to the combination of elite initiative and educationafter high school the research is lacking, therefor is the comparison to previous researchalmost impossible.
