Abstract [sv]

Syftet med denna studie är att analysera en barnboksserie utifrån genus. Ett holistiskt perspektiv används där böckerna analyseras i sin helhet med bilder och text. En tabell med manliga och kvinnliga egenskaper och associerade ord konstrueras med stöd från teoretisk litteratur. Tabellen används sedan för att analysera böckerna med hjälp av flera kategorier. 

Handbok för superhjältar innehåller vissa karaktärer med de traditionella könsmönstren men också några som bryter mot dessa normer. Huvudkaraktären Lisa och hennes vänner förändras och utvecklas under böckernas gång till mer normbrytande och självsäkra individer. Genom att utnyttja den tillhörande lärarhandledningen och lägga till diskussionsfrågor om genus kan böckerna användas av verksamma lärare i undervisning kring traditionella könsmönster och jämställdhet.

Abstract [en]

The purpose of this study is to analyse a series of children’s literature from the perspective of gender. A holistic perspective is used to analyse the books in a wide way with text and pictures together. A chart was constructed with male and female characteristics and associated words found in theoretical literature. The chart was then used to analyse the books with the help of several categories.

Guide for superheroes contains some characters that follow traditional gender stereotypes but also some characters that break these norms. The main character Lisa and her friends change and evolve during the progress of the story by breaking the stereotypical gender norms and become more self-certain. By following the structure of the teacher’s manual and adding questions about gender, these books can be used by working teachers to address and discuss gender and equality.
