Abstract [en]

In this paper, grounded in my music production practice, I investigate thevarious affordances of iOS apps in the field of electronic music production.Drawing on affordance theory and notions of portability and performativity, Iconsider how contemporary technologies have generated renewed approachesto electronic music production and performance. My analysis shows thatportable, touchscreen technologies offer new ways of interaction and musicalexpression, and facilitate experimentation, which empower producers to redefinetheir methods of music creation in the contemporary digital space.
