It is not the program’s treatment that matter.. : - a qualitative study regarding the treatment work for adolescents with addiction. (English)
Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

The aim of the study was how practitioners' reason about their work with adolescents with drug abuse and how this can be understood as an educational practice. The methodological starting point in the study was based on a hermeneutic qualitative approach with semi-structured interviews. Interviews were conducted with five different therapists at four HVB homes in different places in Sweden. Based on the relational perspective, the result has been analyzed. The results showed that the respondents described that they worked with relationship, motivation and participation as well as being safe and stable adults for the adolescents. The conclusion of the study indicates it is the relationship and not the program’s treatment that is the most important when treating adolescents with drug abuse. Treatment work can be understood as a pedagogical practice as the practitioners carry out a change work with the adolescents. This by participating together in a mutal relationship process and using purposeful behaviors aimed at stimulating the adolescents to participate in this relationship process.
