Physical activity outside the pre-school yard : A quantitative study on accessibility to outdoor environments (English)
Abstract [en]

Children have the rights to have access to environments where they can develop their motor skills and where they can stimulate their fantasy. Nature and places around the preschool should be prioritized for play and activity, like the outdoor-play that takes place on the preschool yard does. A survey was conducted to study preschool’s accessibility to physical activity outside the preschool yard, and the result showed that preschool’s around Sweden have good opportunities to stay in the local environment around the preschool.  The geographical location matters because the accessibility to physical activity in preschool’s located centrally in a city, have less opportunities to stay in the local environment.

Barn har rätt att få tillgång till miljöer där de kan utveckla sin motorik och stimulera sin fantasi. Naturen och platser runt omkring förskolan bör prioriteras till lek och aktivitet, lika som den utelek som sker på den inhängda gården gör. En enkätundersökning gjordes för att studera förskolors tillgänglighet till fysisk aktivitet utanför förskolegården. Resultatet visade att förskolor i Sverige generellt har goda möjligheter till att vistas i närmiljöer. Det geografiska läget på förskolan har dock en viss betydelse då möjligheterna till fysisk aktivitet i närmiljöerna är mindre på förskolor belägna centralt i en stad.
