Abstract [en]

This report aims to provide its’ readers with knowledge of the Woman Power symbol and the rhetorical situation surrounding the creation of it. It explains how the symbol managed to become a representation of the Women’s Power Movement by explaining the relationship between its’ rhetorical power and its’ visual appearance, audience and fundamental feelings. The prospect of the report is that the analysis and discussion it lead to can be applied also to other symbols in order to evaluate their rhetorical breakthrough.

The material consist of an image of the Woman Power Symbol and the anthology Sisterhood is Powerful. The combination of these two aim to provide information regarding my already established opinion: that the symbols’ ability to penetrate the Women’s Power Movement was conducted by its’ combination of visual appearance, its’ intended audience and non-audience and the feelings that gave rise to its creation.

The report is in Swedish.
