Abstract [sv]

Det har skett stora förändringar i skolkuratoryrket sedan den nya Skollagen (2010:800) infördes. Elevhälsan ska enligt lagen arbete förebyggande och främjande och stödja elevens utveckling mot målen. Syftet med studien är att presentera former för effektivare problemlösning i det skolsociala arbetet i grundskolan, med särskilt fokus på interaktionen mellan rektorn och skolkuratorn. De studier som finns visar att det finns en oklarhet kring skolkuratorns roll och dennes plats i skolans organisation (Isaksson, 2016). Likaså framgår att andra professioner gärna sätter agendan för vad skolkuratorn ska ha för arbetsuppgifter (Backlund, 2007). Studien utgår ifrån ett kvalitativt forskningsperspektiv där åtta skolkuratorer som arbetar inom grundskolan intervjuats utifrån semistrukturerade intervjuer. I studien beskrivs problemlösningskunskap utifrån flera discipliners perspektiv. De discipliner som använts för att förstå och tolka studiens resultat är socialt arbete, psykologi, filosofi och neurovetenskap. Sammanlagt har de skapat en generell problemlösningskunskap som tillsammans utgör den teoretiska ramen för den här studien. En tematisk analysmetod har strukturerats under fyra olika teamen och utifrån det har materialet sammanfattats. Den empiristyrda tematiska analysen har utgått ifrån mina frågeställningar, vilka är: Hur beskriver skolkuratorerna den nuvarande relationen med sin rektor? Hur beskriver skolkuratorerna en ideal relation med sin rektor? Vad har skolkuratorerna för åtgärdsförslag för att utveckla den nuvarande situationen? Vilka förslag är de mest populära? I resultaten har det framkommit att kvaliteten i skolkuratorernas upplevda relation med sin rektor är beroende av dennes erfarenhet i yrket samt graden av förtrogenhet med skolkuratorns kompetens. Det framgår även att skolkuratorerna önskar arbeta mer förebyggande och främjande än vad de gör nu samt att de efterlyser en högre grad av engagemang i elevhälsoarbetet från rektors sida. Vidare framgår att de efterlyser mer strukturerade uppföljningar av elevhälsoarbetet. Resultatet har tolkats som att rektorerna framförallt saknar en djupare medvetenhet om skolkuratorernas kompetens och acceptans för deras yrkesroll i grundskolans organisation.

Abstract [en]

There have been major changes in the school counselor profession since the new school law (2010:800) was introduced. In accordance with the law, pupil health shall work for prevention and promotion and support the student's progress towards the goals. The purpose of the study is to present forms for more efficient problem solving in the school's social work in primary school, with special focus on the interaction between the principal and the school counselor. Previous studies show that there is an uncertainty about the role of school counselors within the school organization (Isaksson, 2016). Likewise, other professions within the same organization set the agenda for the school counselor profession (Backlund, 2007). The study was conducted on a qualitative research perspective, where eight school counselors working in elementary school were interviewed based on semi structured interview method. The study describes problem-solving skills from the perspective of several disciplines. The disciplines used to understand and interpret the results are social work, psychology, philosophy and neuroscience. Together they have created a general problem solving knowledge and together they form the theoretical framework for this study. A thematic analysis method has been structured into four different teams, and from this, the data has been summarized. The empirical thematic analysis has been based on my questions. Which are: How do the school counselors describe the current relationship with their principal? How do the school counselors describe an ideal relationship with their principal? What do the school counselors propose to develop the current situation? What suggestions are the most popular? In the results, it has been found that the quality of the school counselor's experienced relationship with their principals depends on the principal’s experience in the profession and the degree of familiarity with the school counselor's skills. It also appears that the school counselors wish to work in a more preventive and promotive way than they do now, and that they call for a higher degree of commitment to student health work by the principal. Furthermore, they call for more structured follow-ups of student health work. The results, it has been interpreted, reflect the fact that the principals lack a deeper awareness of the school counselor’s competence and acceptance for their professional role in elementary school organization.
