Abstract [en]

The purpose of the study is to create knowledge of preschool teachers understanding of the words participation and influence when working with the youngest children in preschool.  The children's degree of participation in different situations is investigated in relation to the teacher’s understanding of the words and the study is aming to create knowledge about the work with making the children aware of the possibility of making influence. As a investigation method, a quantitative survey is used with some qualitative elements. 60 preschool teachers who work with the youngest children daily participated in the survey. The result is interpreted using ’The Ladder of Participation’ and the survey indicates that there are large variations of participation degrees which seem to depend on the situation the children are in and how old the children are.

Abstract [sv]

Syftet med studien är att skapa kunskap om förskollärares uppfattningar av vad begreppen delaktighet och inflytande betyder i relation till arbetet med de yngsta barnen i förskolan. I relation till betydelsen undersöks i vilken grad barnen görs delaktiga i olika situationer på förskolan samt hur man arbetar med att medvetandegöra möjligheten till inflytande hos barnen. Som undersökningsmetod har en kvantitativ enkätundersökning med vissa kvalitativa inslag använts. I undersökningen deltog 60 förskollärare som arbetar med de yngsta barnen i förskolan. Resultatet tolkades genom ’The Ladder of Participation och undersökningen tyder på att det finns stora variationer av delaktighetsgrader som verkar vara beroende av vilken situation barnet befinner sig i och hur gammal barnet är.
