Abstract [en]

Purpose and Research question: The purpose of this study is to increase the general knowledge of the process of introducing new leaders and to identify suggestions for what can be a good introduction work.

• In what way does management's view of leadership affect the design and process of the introduction of new leaders and their leadership within LÖG?

Methodology: We have applied a qualitative method because our goal was to create a deeper degree of understanding for the subject. The study was initiated with an explorative approach, where our curiosity and personal interest for leadership led us to find an unexploited field of research within leadership. An abductive character has arisen since an interplay between induction and deduction occurred. The empirical data have primarily been collected from semi structured interviews and secondarily from different forms of documentation that we have collected from the respondents.

Conclusion: The management ́s view on leadership has a great effect on the design and work of the introduction of new leaders and their leadership within LÖG. The study has revealed that the view of leadership the management holds, has effected the view on leadership that the participants of LÖG have developed. Results show that characteristics from the process of introduction can be directly connected to the view of leadership the management presented. From both the characteristics from LÖG and from the needs we have identified among the respondents whom are new in their role as a leader, we have compiled aspects that makes a good introductory work of new leaders. Those aspects are exemplified by the importance of a mix between both theoretical and practical learning. As well certain management tools and the access of a mentorship.
