Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

The purpose of this study is to investigate how representatives of the police place themselves as individuals in relation to the community and how their relationship to their followers look through their tweets. With a discourse-theoretical framework, their language is analysed and re- viewed on Twitter, which is then interpreted from Foucault’s discourse and power perspective. The material that we have analysed in the following paper is 38 Twitter posts. A number of di- scourse analytical tools have been selected to investigate @YB_Sodermalm’s linguistic construc- tions on Twitter. The analysis shows various preparations of their rhetoric, where we find diffe- rent dialogues. The results show, among other things, that @YB_sodermalm present themselves as formal and objective but also at times as personal and playful. We also found several techni- ques of power and power-exercise based on Foucault's ideas of disciplinary power.
