Abstract [sv]

Sulfidrika sediment som i kontakt med syre oxiderats och bildat sura sulfatjordar påverkar vattenkvalitén i kustområden på många områden i världen, bland annat runt Bottniska viken. Vattendrag förorenas då svavelsyra och metaller lakas ur sura sulfatjordar. Målsättningen med studien var att bestämma vilka metaller som lakas ur sura sulfatjordar vid Norrbottenskusten samt i vilka koncentrationer. Vidare var målsättningen att jämföra resultatet med studier gjorda på liknande områden i Finland. En datafil över metallhalter i vattenprover tagna av Länsstyrelsen, främst i diken vid jordbruksmark i kustnära områden i Norrbotten, bearbetades statistiskt och tolkades. Element som lakas särskilt ur sura sulfatjordar i Norrbotten var Co, Ni, Cd, Zn, Al och Mn, men även SO42-, Cu, Mg, Na, Ca, Fe och K. Bly, Cr, V och As lakades inte nämnvärt. Resultaten överensstämde väl med studier gjorda i Finland, därför kan slutsatsen dras att sura sulfatjordar runt Bottniska viken generellt uppvisar samma metallurlakningsmönster. Undantaget var höga koncentrationer av Fe, som sällan ses lakas ur dessa jordar i Finland men förekom i höga koncentrationer i de norrbottniska vattnen.

Abstract [en]

Sulphide-bearing sediments which in contact with oxygen oxidized and formed acid sulphate soils affects water quality in coastal areas in many places around the world, including the Gulf of Bothnia. Watercourses get polluted by sulphuric acid and metals leached from these soils. The purpose of the study was to determine which metals are leached from acid sulphate soils on the coast of Norrbotten and which concentrations. Furthermore, the objective was to compare the results with studies made in similar areas in Finland. A data file with water samples collected by the County Administration Board, mainly in ditches at agricultural lands, in coastal areas in Norrbotten was processed statistically and interpreted. Elements particularly leached from acid sulphate soils in Norrbotten were Co, Ni, Cd, Zn, Al and Mn, but also SO42, Cu, Mg, Na, Ca, Fe and K. Lead, Cr, V and As were not substantially leached. The results correspond with studies made in Finland, therefore the conclusion is that acid sulphate soils around the Gulf of Bothnia generally show the same pattern for metal leakage. The exception was Fe, which is rarely seen leached from these soils in Finland, but were found in high concentrations in the waters in Norrbotten.
