Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

The purpose with this qualitative interview study is to examine how outdoor education is conducted in certain centrally located high schools in a large Swedish city. The questions that have been produced to answer that is: Does the PE-teacher’s view and earlier experiences on outdoor life matter in their design of outdoor education? Which factors does the PE-teachers experience affect the design of outdoor education? How does the actual outdoor education on the schools that I have examined look like? The study has its theoretical point in the frame factor theory.

To find out this, qualitative and semi structured interviews has been used as method.  Four PE-teachers from a large Swedish city has been interviewed. The interviews has then been transcribed and analyzed. The result of the analysis show: That the teacher’s earlier experiences of outdoor life differ and so do also the teachers outdoor education. That time, school location and school economy are the prime factors that prevent outdoor education. That the teachers teaching don’t contain all parts about outdoor life in the physical education curriculum. The result of the study confirms earlier research.
