This investigation seeks to provide a deeper insight of the scale of the task, which is required for an implementation of the search engine optimization tool (SEO) in small caps. The study also seeks to increase the general understanding of how SEO works as a marketing tool and provide a deeper consideration of the problems that might occur during the implementation process and how these problems could be treated with the resources that small caps possess.The study was designed as a case study, in which a full scale implementation of the SEO tool was conducted in a small cap, which specialized in the specialty goods trade market and desired to implement SEO tool in their marketing of their online store. The study is covering every task in the process, with the start of the identification of the perceived keywords that the target audience might us, and the implementation of new created information on the online store, which also include a comprehensive SEO adaption of the entire previous content of the online store.With the exception of the follow-up torque, this due to the limited duration of the project assignment could not be made deeper than a preparation for the follow-up.To gain a deeper understanding of the problems that arise during the implementation and how they were treated, a semi-structured interview was designed and conducted with each team member, both during and after the implementation. This for gathering the impression from each team member of the problems that they encountered and how they had solved the problem based on the task they were working on. Also during the entire implementation, every new insight, occurred problem or solution was recorded in overall project diary.The collected data that was obtained from the interviews and the project diary were then compared with results from previous made studies and statements found in the available theoretical material and from scientific journals or records.
