Abstract [en]

The purpose of this study was to describe occupational therapists experiences of interventions for clients with depression. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with the support of a interview guide. The collected material was analyzed using a qualitative content analysis and the analysis resulted in three categories: strategies to enable change, adaptation of the activity and the group as a therapeutic means. The result show the importance of that the client learned new strategies in order to learn to recognize dangerous situations and reminder signals in the environment and in a more successful way deal with everyday life. By adapting the activity and review its severity and duration the activity can become easier for the client to carry out. The results also showed that group activity can be used to help the client get back to a more active and social life. This study may contribute to various interventions that may be useful in order to prevent relapse into depression.
