The purpose of this study is to investigate whether and if so how, professionals in the theater business look at and works with the concepts of "whole experience" and "experience room". Furthermore, whether the professionals at three selected theaters uses "room design" as a tool to create the conditions for a “whole experience” for theater visitors. To reach a discussion and conclusion, I have done interviews with marketing managers, art directors and set designers on three selected theaters in the Stockholm area. I have also visited these three selected theaters at a respective performance opportunity and analyzed my own experience at each visit. This is to use some of my analyzes based on the qualitative interviews. Prior to the theoretical I have done a thorough literature review in which I include a discussion on the study's three central concepts - "total experience", "experience room" and "room design". The study has revealed that the staff of the surveyed theaters generally wants to work with the whole experience. Why they rarely give priority to work around the whole experience with the help of room design in the outer rooms (room experience) depends on, for example, economic aspects, for large repertoire, planning and time. The study also shows that "experience room" as a concept is unclear for most informants.
