2015 (Swedish)Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
Abstract [en]

This study studying crowdfunding and music festivals and how these can be combined. The purpose with this study is to from an experience production perspective theoretically describe the new model for crowdfunded festivals that U x U Festival developed. To achieve the purpose, I will answer the following questions: What is a crowdfunded Festival (U x U Festival Case Study)? How can a crowdfunded festival be described based on an experience production theoretical perspective? How can a theoretical model be for a crowdfundad festival?

My results shows that crowdfunding can be a very good financial solution for festivals and cultural events as the major producers are forced to take substantial financial risk if not ticket sales, weather and competing events go well with their intentions and beliefs. Crowdfunding can because of the early ticket sales (eight to nine months before the usual ticket sales) help festivals to differentiate themselves and also to scale the size of the festival after the early ticket sales.

By allowing visitors to have greater involvement and participation of the creation of the festival festivals can approach the third generation of experiences in which the individual creates his own experience.
